Kaspersky has launched Safe Browser for Windows Phone app, which protects users while web surfing on smartphones.

The new app, which is currently being offered via Windows Phone Store, also protects devices against phishing.

Safe Browser also filters web content including pornographic sites, sites with bad words or scenes of violence, gaming sites and social networking sites.

Kaspersky Lab mobile product line head Victor Yablokov said: "People use them [smartphones] for all sorts of things. However, even the most tech-savvy web user may sometimes struggle to distinguish fake sites from the real thing.

"Now, Kaspersky Safe Browser for Windows Phone is here to help, providing automatic protection against fraudulent and inappropriate sites."

Parents can also boost their kids’ online safety by adding the app to the Kid’s Corner, a special kids’ segment on Windows Phone devices with select content and applications.

Earlier, the Russian security firm had protected Microsoft devices with Kaspersky Internet Security for Android-based smartphones and tablets.
