Joyent, a provider of cloud computing offerings and technologies, and Machine-to-Machine Intelligence (m2mi), a provider of network automation products in the cloud M2M market, have entered into a partnership agreement.

Under the agreement, Joyent’s SmartDataCenter 6.0, including a native Node.js run time and DTrace latency introspection will be combined with m2mi’s network virtualisation and Machine-to-Machine technologies.

The combined offering enables Joyent and m2mi to deliver federated cloud offerings to select customers that have existing and disparate data centre locations, multi-vendor equipment and are interested in comprehending their datacentre infrastructure.

In addition, the agreement will provide Machine-To-Machine services to Joyent’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service Platform.

These services will enable implementation of automated rapid provisioning and change management, advanced security, responsive performance, autonomous SLA, and compliance services throughout Joyent’s cloud technology stack.

Joyent CEO David Young said that the company is working with m2mi, to create a unique value for the datacentre and the network is one of the hardest components of the cloud to operate and automate correctly because it requires a complex understanding of orchestration and multi-vendor interoperability.

"The product of our collaboration will enable customers with complex requirements and multi-vendor datacentres to fully leverage the power of the cloud and they gain the benefits of Joyent’s cloud operating system with introspection tools for root cause analysis, and the security and visibility that is provided by a federated view of infrastructure," Young said.
