Google has added real-time traffic reports from mapping company Waze to its Maps.
Users of the Maps app on Android can report accidents, construction and road closures, that will automatically get updated and appear in the Google Maps app for Android and iOS versions.
Google Maps VP Brian McClendon said that no one likes getting stuck in traffic.
"That’s why the Waze and Google Maps teams are working together to harness the power of Google technology and the passion of the Waze community to make it easier to navigate your daily life," McClendon said.
"In addition, after a successful beta test, the Waze Map Editor now includes Google Street View and satellite imagery to build out the map and make it easier to correct map errors reported by the community."
Google Maps users in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Switzerland, UK and the US can use the newly integrated feature.
Google’s latest mapping upgrade comes in a bid to bolster its efforts against Apple and other rivals.
The latest release comes after Google acquired crowd-sourced map app Waze in a deal said to be worth about $1bn.
