Google has introduced social networking apps including Facebook and Twitter for Google Glass, which is the wearable computer developed by the Internet search firm.
Revealed at the ongoing Google I/O conference in San Francisco, half-dozen apps for the eyewear also include News network CNN, fashion magazine Elle, in addition to online apps Tumblr and Evernote.
Google Mobile Products head Erick Tseng said that Facebook app allows users to upload photos from Google Glass directly to Facebook timeline.
"You can also add an optional photo description, just by speaking it," Tseng said.
Twitter app for the gadget allows users share pictures or text messages and keep up with their followers on Twitter through notifications.
In addition, online retailer eBay is also working on applications for Google Glass, which would allow users in shopping and broader commercial activities through the wearable technology.
The search major is currently trialling the Android powered, internet-connected device to explore ways of using it.
The hands-free gadget allows capturing pictures and record video, addition to sharing content directly via email or social networks.
Features of the new device include Skype-like video chats as well as other related information including weather reports and map directions, while offering storage of 12GB of usable memory.
Google will assemble the gadget at Foxconn’s facility in Santa Clara, California, US.
