After launching the square-screened Passport smartphone last week, BlackBerry is reportedly planning to roll out at least one new ‘unconventional device’ each year.
The decision seems to have been taken by the Canadian Smartphone maker encouraged by profits earned from its handset business.
BlackBerry devices head Ron Louks told Reuters: "When it comes to design and being a little bit disruptive, we want that ‘wow’ factor.
"Not all of the products will have it, but we definitely have opportunities.
"From a roadmap perspective, I’m pretty happy with where we are at for next year."
However, there were no hints for the launch of the next unconventional device, with reports claiming that the company would unveil new products at next year’s Mobile World Congress.
The Canadian passport shaped Passport comes with a 4.5-in square screen, physical QWERTY keyboard, a quad core 2.26Ghz Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM, 13MP rear and 2MP front camera.
Passport went on sale on 24 September. It is priced $599 in the US, less than Apple’s iPhone 6 by $50 and the iPhone 6 Plus by $150.
