The BBC has released an updated version of its iPlayer application for the Apple iOS, which allows streaming of TV and radio programmes over 3G and Wi-Fi.
BBC’s iPlayer mobile software offers now media streaming too across all the mobile phone networks.
BBC’s executive project manager for iPlayer David Madden said in a blog post that more and more people were choosing to watch their favourite television programmes or listen to the radio on their mobile phone or tablet. "In October 2011 alone 16.5 million programmes were watched on mobile devices and tablets, up by 129% from this time last year," Madden added.
BBC iPlayer application runs on iPhones and iPads, which are now available from the iTunes app store.
The application is compatible with iPod touch and iPhone 3GS devices and above running the iOS 4.3.
It lets users connect the iPlayer application to a TV via Apple Airplay, which allows user to access live TV and radio via both the web and a TV aerial.
