AT&T and TeleNav, a provider of wireless location-based services, have announced the expansion of TeleNav Track from AT&T, a GPS-enabled mobile resource management (MRM) service for mobile business customers.

AT&T said that it will now offer TeleNav Track LITE to help businesses enhance their field service, delivery or sales operations through real-time visibility of employee locations.

Track LITE from AT&T is a new tracking service that is expected to provide real-time visibility of field employee locations to enhance dispatch operations and customer service. It is a web-based MRM service that, the company claims, does not require software or GPS on the mobile device.

AT&T said that the new tracking service works on its wireless network running on the AT&T mobile devices, laptop cards and wireless equipped notebooks. The service is expected to be available at the end of July.

The company claims that with the new tracking service, business managers could monitor their mobile workforce and resources, with the ability to identify their current location on a map, even when inside buildings. The tracking feature is always on and cannot be disabled on the device, providing companies with a view into the location of all mobile resources.
