Aptela, a provider of phone service for small businesses and mobile workers, has released its v5.0 platform, which is written in Erlang/OTP, uses CouchDB as its data store, and offers a set of APIs that unify communications for customers by integrating calling into their existing business processes.
According to Aptela, the new platform includes, online purchase process, combined with quick start activation process that allows customers to order service and start making and receiving calls on the same day. It allows multi-entity businesses to manage multiple auto attendants within a single account and the new enhanced auto attendant functionality offers a customisable schedule and unlimited menus.
The v5.0 platform also includes a suite of plug-ins, applications and extensions that allow customers to unify their communications by integrating calling into their existing business processes. Anywhere Apps includes an iGoogle gadget, the m.aptela.com mobile portal, mobile integration for the iPhone, Blackberry and Android, browser plug-ins and more, the company said.
In addition, the new platform allows users to view real-time presence for employees to see who is on/off the phone and available to take or make calls. It also allows customers to create reusable conference bridges by assigning an extension or phone number for use, and offers the ability to blacklist unwanted callers.
