The smartphone OS market is expected to be dominated by Apple and Android and iOS by 2018, according to new research.
The study, conducted by Juniper Research, said Apple and Samsung’s smartphone shipments would hit 800 million by the end of 2018, compared with 677 million last year.
However, Juniper Research said it expects the market to see emerging players, like Asha, Sailfish and HTML 5 based OS players to slow the growth rate of the smartphone giants.
Growth is also expected across the Indian Subcontinent and China, while slower growth is forecast for the Ultra-Premium and Premium smartphone sectors.
The report also found that the average price of a smartphone would fall.
