Accenture is expanding its digital services with the acquisition of Cimation, a Houston-based consulting firm.

Cimation, which consults on the industrial Internet of Things and specialises in process automation, information technology and industrial control system cyber security, will see its 200 employees join the Accenture Asset and Operations Services group.

The two companies will together provide end-to-end services to transform industrial asset operations and maintenance for energy, pipeline, chemicals, metals and mining companies. Accenture will bring its global consulting practice while Cimation provides technical and process expertise.

Peggy Kostial, Senior Managing Director for Accenture‘s North America Resources operating group, cited the "complementary client base" and "excellent cultural fit" of the companies.

She said: "Our union with Cimation will expand our digital, management consulting and technology consulting capabilities to help clients achieve their goals of managing their assets more effectively and with greater security.
