The Softlab GmbH to buy… gossip has been whirling around for about three years now as the Bayerische Motoren Werke AG software engineering subsidiary sifts through mountains of print-out trying to decide the right company to buy to take it into the US market, so we have to take with a pinch of salt the gossip that the company will announce an agreed bid for Bachman Information Systems Inc, perhaps as soon as this week, especially as the company, which is making losses on falling sales, considered putting itself up for sale earlier this year, called in financial advisors to test the water, and didn’t like what they came back with (CI No 2,082) – but the sale of the company to Softlab can’t be ruled out.
