Barry Walsh, MD of SingTel Europe, said the carrier will offer the services globally, with its IT services partners in Singapore subcontracting the work out to US or European partners for customers in those geographies, the idea being for managed security to be a value add when SingTel is bidding for a contract to provide WAN services.
He added that the carrier is currently in operation in the US, UK, France and Germany, with new PoPs due on its global MPLS network in other European countries by the middle of next year. SingTel is also offering WAN optimization/app acceleration as a service, called Traffic Optimization and Profiling Service (TOPS) with Packeteer Inc, offered as a managed service on top of its WAN services.
