Shared Services Alliance (SSA), a collaborative procurement initiative within the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), has signed a five-year IT outsourcing contract with IT services company Atos.

The new contract covers all IT services for four members, namely Sellafield, Magnox, National Nuclear Laboratories and Low Level Waste Repository.

The multi-service contract comprises of 18 service towers networking, desktops, applications and hosting services, as well as Service Integration and Management (SIAM).

The five-year IT outsourcing contract will see Atos consolidate and modernise the existing infrastructure to improve service for more than 18,000 end users located at more than 30 separate locations.

The service improvements will deliver savings of more than 30% over 5 years to the four businesses that have collaborated under the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s (NDA’s) Shared Services Alliance for their IT outsourced services.

Shard Services Alliance project manager Keith Gibson said the the new contract focuses on investment and future benefits realisation.

"It will reduce costs by simplifying IT support arrangements and provides a solid platform for future developments," said Gibson.
