The UK Department for Work and Pensions is to evolve a multi-supplier service model to centralise IT services.

Servicenow, which secured a contract with the giant government department said it will support the programme of disaggregating large outsourcing contracts to improve IT service delivery.

In a bid to improve service performance the DWP will use the ServiceNow IT Service Automation suite to see which services are not used and create explicit service integration arrangements to improve performance and provide better user experience.

The company added the suite will focus on open standards and interoperability to support workflow, performance and service management, billing and payment.

Kevin Tumulty, EMEA VP at ServiceNow said: "Service integration and management (SIAM) can help government departments to manage their often numerous service providers in a more consistent and efficient way.

"This helps them drive greater efficiencies and reduce the cost of service provisioning, resulting in better services."
