Securus Technologies, a provider of inmate communication services and investigative technologie has debuted Securus Video Visitation for the corrections industry.

The company stated the new offering allows friends, family members, attorneys, and public officials to schedule and participate in visitation sessions with an inmate-from any PC connected to the internet.

Integration of the newly acquired Primonics video visitation Securus Video Visitation will offer a secure remote video visit in place of traditional in-person visits.

Securus marketing and strategy Vice President Russell Roberts said the company’s Video Visitation system will provide scheduling, reduce current visitation traffic, and increase safety.

"For inmates and friends and family, we already see visitation hours expanded when introducing web based visitation," added Russell.

Securus manager of product management Matthew Smith said the cost of parking, which can be upwards of $15 per day, in addition to increased gas prices and unpaid time off work can cause unnecessary financial challenges for those currently participating in traditional in-person visitation.

"Securus Video Visitation solves these problems by allowing the public to schedule and participate in video visitation from the comfort of their homes or offices," Smith added.
