Seagate is in the best position today to launch new products and provide support services to the fast-growing storage market in India. The new facility’s location will enable Seagate to develop closer ties to the market.
As the need for storage expands beyond the traditional PC market into emerging markets like Consumer Electronics (CE), Storage Area Networking (SAN) and server appliances, Seagate has continued to move forward to take advantage of these opportunities, said Joel Stead, Seagate’s senior vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing. Through our local presence in key markets like India, Seagate is working to grow our business and develop these new opportunities worldwide.
Seagate is by far the leading provider of storage solutions in India. According to a recent International Data Corporation (IDC) report, Seagate is the market-share leader with 70 percent of the Indian disc drive market. PC Quest India, a leading technology publication, ranked Seagate first in its Users’ Choice survey for the second consecutive year for providing innovative and best-in-class products and services.
The new India sales office will be located at the International Trade Tower, Nehru Place, New Delhi. Sharad Srivastava, Seagate’s country manager for India, will head the office and lead the business development management, field application engineering and administrative staff. Seagate will continue to be supported by its local distributors ACI, Karma and Ingram Micro to deliver the latest products to the growing India IT market.
