Through NVIDIA, Sensaura is the chosen provider of 3D audio technology for Microsoft’s highly anticipated future-generation Xbox video game system. Sensaura will also be available as a middleware solution for PlayStation 2 distributed by Criterion Software.
Sensaura is at the forefront of 3D sound development and is already established as the de facto technology for use in PCs. Sensaura’s licensees currently control around 80% of the PC audio chip market world-wide.
Through its licensing agreement with NVIDIA, Sensaura’s technology will enable Xbox consoles to incorporate the most powerful, dedicated audio-processor ever to be featured in a games console. It will deliver 64 hardware-accelerated channels of Sensaura 3D Positional Audio (S-3DPA) to provide users with an overwhelming sound experience.
Sensaura have further extended their relationship with Criterion Software, the world’s foremost distributor of middleware solutions for the games industry. As part of this agreement, Criterion has the exclusive right to distribute Sensaura’s recently developed ‘middleware’ product, S-3DPA that has been developed for PlayStation 2. The agreement will enable S-3DPA to reach Playstation 2 games creators worldwide, helping them to develop games with all-round, 3D sound from two or more speakers and headphones.
Dr Ken Gray, Chairman of Scipher commented, Sensaura’s patented 3D sound technology is currently incorporated on over 40 million PCs and the licensing agreements announced today further extend our world-leading de facto position for PCs onto games consoles. We are now providing the first real 3D sound experience for games consoles through a middleware solution for PlayStation 2 games, distributed by our licensee Criterion Software and as a hardware solution in the Xbox through our licensee NVIDIA.
