Scania selected iPass Mobile Office after benchmarking it against its existing remote access solution. iPass stood out for its usability and expansive global WiFi footprint, which includes more than 76,000 WiFi hotspots. Scania’s existing solution was lacking in its global WiFi coverage, which Scania’s employees required to gain high-speed and reliable access to business-critical resources while out of the office.

WiFi was the missing link in our mobile connectivity strategy. The technology has come into its own over the last two years and we wanted to take advantage of that, commented Jens Satero, sourcing manager at Scania. Our employees are distributed across 100 countries, with many traveling regularly across Europe and South America, so finding a solution that could offer true global WiFi coverage, not just pockets of coverage, was our number one priority.

The deployment is being implemented and managed by Flexible Networks Nordic (FlexiNets), a Swedish remote access specialist and Certified iPass Solution Partner.

Flexinets will initially roll out the iPass solution to 500 to 600 Scania employees, with a view to increasing the number of users as remote working grows increasingly more important within the company. The employees represent a wide cross segment of Scania’s business from engineering and management to sales and marketing executives.
