The company said that the product will be launched later this month and offers new capabilities such as trade promotions management, business communications management and pipeline performance management. The package will be delivered as a hosted service, and would compete with the products of Salesforce.com, a provider of software delivered over the web. SAP and Salesforce are both targeting the enterprise market. SAP CRM 2007 will be available to customers in by December.
In September 2007, SAP launched Business ByDesign, an on-demand enterprise software application solution for the mid-market. It competes with the on-demand offerings from Salesforce.com, NetSuite and Oracle.
The Business ByDesign offers on-demand applications for financials, procurement, and customer relationship management software and cost $149 per user, per month, for customers with a minimum of 25 users. It is also available with limited access at $54 per month for a set of five users.
According to technology website ZDNet, the web-based service expands SAP’s reach into the mid-market and its entry into the hosted-applications arena, where it has been slower than its competitors.
