Sanar Systems Inc of Santa Clara, California has introduced the 110MHz microSparc II-based Sanar Micro SA5 workstation, saying it is compatible with Sun Microsystems Inc’s SparcStation 5, at from $4,000. The system can handle up to 256Mb memory and has three SBus expansion slots. Sanar also has a multiprocessing network file server for small to medium workgroups, the Sanar Sparc Server SA2000TMP. It includes two Sanar SA20 system boards, with up to two disk array subsystems, 10 storage slots, 19 Sbus expansion slots and three Mbus slots on each board. It is priced from $24,500. The company is also now shipping its Sanar Sparc SA20 SparcStation 20-compatible workstations, which are priced from $10,000, depending on configuration with 75MHz SuperSparc or 100MHz HyperSparc processors. WatchDog high availability access and failure management software costs $9,500. It runs on Sparc and HP-UX systems, and supports Sun’s On-line DiskSuite. Sanar has also released a desktop video conferencing system for Unix workstation applications, the SanVideo 2000, which costs from $5,500.
