Looking to increase customer service, San Mateo Credit Union decided in 2005 that they would place computers in their branch offices so that customers could do online banking in-branch and/or surf the internet. Knowing that securing the computers from network attacks would be crucial, the Credit Union selected Fortinet’s unified threat management solution. San Mateo Credit Union is using FortiGate-60 appliances to help protect these computers from malicious Internet-based attacks. Fortinet’s FortiGate-60 appliances are equipped with multiple functionalities such as antivirus, anti-spam, firewall and intrusion detection.
San Mateo Credit Union also wanted to upgrade their corporate network with firewall, web content filtering, antivirus and anti-spam functionality. Additionally, the Credit Union required intrusion prevention functionality to help safeguard corporate information including banking records, customer and corporate information. To get the breadth of security they needed, the Credit Union decided to deploy Fortinet’s enterprise-class FortiGate-800 integrated security appliances.
Pete Kneisler, vice president of information systems at San Mateo Credit Union, said: Since the deployment of the FortiGate appliances, we can now easily see what’s traversing the network at any of our branches and are able to see many attacks that are being successfully blocked by the Fortinet solution. Fortinet’s FortiGate appliances are the most effective appliances we have ever deployed on our network.
