Samsung Electronics will reportedly replace Qualcomm’s processors for the next version of its flagship Galaxy S smartphone, instead using its own chip.

Bloomberg reports that the latest move comes after Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 chip overheated during the testing process.

The latest move would be a blow for the struggling chipmaker’s prospects for 2015, which reported weaker-than-usual annual revenue growth in a five-year outlook issued out last November.

Samsung is anticipated to roll out the device during the upcoming Mobile World Congress trade show to be held in March.

Analysts claim that the use of Exynos processors in its flagship devices will help Samsung bolster its credentials as a chip designer and maker.

Currently, the South Korean firm’s flagship devices, including the Galaxy S5, are powered by its own Exynos processors, with higher adoption of Exynos chips expected to help in boosting sales for the struggling foundry business.

Samsung’s recent launch of its first Tizen powered smartphone, Z1, in India has received tepid response over concerns about low-resolution cameras and lack of software apps.
