Samsung Forte, also known as SCH-R910 and a variant of the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone series, will run on the LTE (long term evolution, also known as 4G network) of MetroPCS mobile network.
The phone is reportedly an upgrade over the Samsung Craft, which is currently the only available LTE phone for MetroPCS.
The Android 2.2 phone with a touchscreen slider and a QWERTY keyboard has a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 5-megapixel camera and a microSD (secure digital) card slot.
The phone is expected to release on 23 February for $400.
Media reports, which have accessed the photo updates in photo-sharing site Flickr, have speculated that the South Korean electronics maker could name the phone as Samsung Indulge.
Meanwhile, Samsung is also readying an upgrade for its Android user interface (UI) phone TouchWiz and releasing it at the Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona next month.
