Privately held Symagery’s image capture and processing technology is used in commercial and mobile data collection for transportation, supply chain management and mobile sales and service.
Teklogix already uses Symagery techonology in its rugged hand-held computers. The demand for imaging solutions within Teklogix’s market is said to be increasing as enterprises aim for faster and more accurate data collection at the point where transactions are completed and workers deal with customers or assets.
This is an excellent acquisition for Psion Teklogix following several years of working together on customer projects, said Psion CEO Alistair Crawford.
For the year ending December 31, Psion posted net income of $166.8m, thanks to the sale of its shareholding in Symbian in early 2004. Sales rose 5% to $260m, and it was sitting on a cash pile of 98m pounds ($178m).
