Sord founder Shiina’s new company, Proside, has now introduced its multi-standard machine, the P-VS2, an 80286-based machine which is compatible with IBM AT and NEC 9800 line: it can be upgraded with an 80386 for $1,000, and was designed by, and uses a BIOS written by Tokyo company TomCat; the Virtual System Logic architecture enables the machine to de-tect whether it is running American software for the AT or Japanese software for the 9800, and is claimed to be 20% faster than the lat-ter; it starts at $2,800 with two floppies, and Proside looks to be selling the P-VS2 at a rate of 2,000 a month from next year.
