Progress Software Corp, the Bedford, Massachusetts-based provider of application development tools said yesterday it has signed an agreement with UK-based application service provider, ESOFT, to enable its European ISV partners to demonstrate their applications within the ASP model. Under the partnership, Progress software developers which are thinking of becoming ASPs and renting applications to users, can now use ESOFT’s servers to demonstrate their software with a view to gauging interest in the service. The agreement was signed under Progress’ ASPEN (Application Service Provider Enablement) program which was set up to help ISVs transform their Progress-based applications into ASP-enabled applications. Progress said it will provide ESOFT with technology and services for the development, deployment and maintenance of ESOFT’s Managed Internet Applications (MiA) service while ESOFT, in turn, will offer migration and hosting services to Progress’ ISVs.
