The deal represents the latest stage of Priceline’s strategy to promote itself via other websites. The company recently signed a deal with LastMinuteTravel.com to make its inventory of travel products available on the LastMinuteTravel.com website. Priceline has also signed marketing agreements with AOL and eBay.

Lowestfare.com was one of the most frequently visited online travel websites.

The website began to struggle following the collapse of its deal with Trans World Airlines (TWA) to distribute discounted air tickets via the Lowestfare website.

Following the sale of its trademarks and domain names, the company behind Lowestfare.com has revealed that it will change its name to Maupintour Holding. The company will continue to offer various travel products on its Maupintour.com website.
