Phoenix Technologies Ltd, Norwood, Massachusetts, says that the PhoenixPage PostScript interpreter is being offered on Pacific Data Products’ Pacific XL PostScript accelerator card for LaserJet printers: Pacific XL is said to improve printing speed by from two to eight times over standard PostScript cartridges; it consists of PacificPage PE 4.0, the latest version of Pacific Data’s LaserJet PostScript cartridge with the PhoenixPage PostScript interpreter, and the second component of Pacific XL is a high-speed accelerator board that includes both an Intel 80960 and 2Mb of printer memory; the performance improvement is accomplished by dividing printer tasks between the 80960, which is used for processing PostScript tasks, and the LaserJet’s resident processor which is used for processing other tasks; it will be available as from April.
