Belmont, California-based Oracle Corp is continuing its diversification into database-related activities, and its latest venture is the creation of a new Oracle Data Publishing subsidiary.The aim of the new unit is to provide Oracle database users with access to a variety of computer-based information services designed assist them in making critical business decisions. It is to acquire and sell electronic versions of a broad range of data and information that many Oracle customers already use in print form. Dick Brass, described as the inventor of the electronic synonym finder and a developer of computerised spelling checkers based on real dictionaries, has been appointed to head the unit.
