The proposed acquisition bulks up Oracle’s utilities functionality it gained when it acquired SPL WorldGroup, adding the important meter data management function to existing utility-specific capabilities which include load profiling, pricing, marketing, sales, customer care, billing, analytics, and management of the networks, work force, assets and business-to-business transactions. Oracle also gains expertise as the Lodestar staff are expected to join the Oracle Utilities Global Business unit.
An established company that has been in business for 25 years, Lodestar has 120 clients in the energy industry worldwide and said its clients include most of the top 75% of investor-owned utilities, leading retail companies, ISO/RTO’s, wholesale providers, transmission companies, and generation companies.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed; the transaction is expected to close in May.
