Omnia Technologies, a provider of integrated access technology for unified communications, has selected U4EA Technologies Fusion 500 multi-service business gateway for its remote agent call center application via Interlink Communications Systems.

U4EA claims that the Fusion 500, in combination with an open source IP PBX, enables Omnia to handle the inbound and outbound calls made by remote agents utilizing IP telephony to access remote call center applications. This system also provides VoIP support to businesses with multi-site locations or that have a large ratio of teleworkers.

According to U4EA, the Fusion 500 combines the functions of a router, switch, firewall/NAT, IPSec/VPN, IDS, session controller, bandwidth manager, VoIP Gateway, patented QoS (GoS) and OA&M into one device for better delivery of unified voice, data and video communications.

Robert Marsh, president of Omnia Technologies, said: We tried a dozen firewalls unsuccessfully, and finally the Fusion 500 allowed us to handle the complex issue of simultaneous registration of SIP trunks and remote IP phones. The device also delivers session border control functions, a built-in firewall, and VoIP call records and monitoring that are top-of-the-line.
