Copenhagen, Denmark-based Olicom A/S has launched the second generation of its PCI-based Token Ring adapter. The new version adds support for the Dedicated (full-duplex) Token Ring standard, and incorporates an improved version of the company’s PowerMACH technology, and an improved ASIC design claimed to maintain CPU utilization at a very low level. On the management side, it supports the Desktop Management Interface standard, and includes a Simple Network Management Protocol agent. Drivers for NetWare, IBM LAN Server, and Windows NT Advanced Server, while clients based on MS-DOS, OS/2, Windows for Workgroups, Windows NT and Windows95 are supported. The Token Ring PCI/II 16/4 Adaptor is ready now at $325.
