Start-up front office application vendor, Octane Software Inc, which launched itself onto the market last February, this week said it notched up sales of $1.7m during its first quarter. The company claims the revenues are the highest first product sales figures of any front office vendor during its first quarter. Part of its success, Octane puts down to the recent announcement of its first Application Service Provider (ASP) partnership with Corio.
Under that deal, Corio will remotely host and distribute the company’s sales, service and marketing customer relationship management suite, Octane 99, to businesses over the internet for a monthly fee. The San Mateo, California-based company, one of the newest entrants in the CRM market, is led by a team of former Siebel and Scopus (now Siebel) executives with the backing of high-tech investors Greylock, Sigma Partners and Lucent Venture Partners. The company’s software is aimed exclusively at what it calls the Digital 1000 companies that are becoming increasingly web-focused, and dotcom start-ups. Octane said that a total of eight customer sales were completed in the quarter including Autonomy, Categoric Software and Send.com.
