Network Solutions Inc has launched a Year 2000 testing program for the network of root servers that maintain the internet’s domain name addressing system. NSI, based in Herndon, Virginia, administers two of the 13 root servers that are based around the world. Eight of the other servers are also in the US and there is one each in the UK, Sweden and Japan. NSI will establish a web site that will host testing tools that will enable system administrators to simulate the changing of dates. The tools will be up on the web site by early July. http://www.root2000.com
