Qualcomm Inc says that Taiwanese manufacturer Tatung Co has signed a support and teaming agreement for the San Diego, California-headquartered company’s Code Division Multiple Access technology, which was endorsed by the International Telecommunications Union last month. Qualcomm says the deal will give Tatung access to the technology in order to respond to growing requests for CDMA-based cellular systems. The companies also announced that they intend to team up to pursue unspecified CDMA projects in Taiwan. Other companies that are licensed to provide Code Division Multiple Access phones and equipment include AT&T Corp, Motorola Inc, Northern Telecom Ltd and Nokia Oy.
