Underlining what Digital Research might have achieved had it had cash and US name recognition behind it, Novell Inc yesterday announced NetWare PalmDOS 1.0, a new MS-DOS-compatible operating system for the mobile computing environment based on DR DOS 6.0. It is designed to enable MS-DOS applications to run on palmtop and handheld computers and to tie them into local and wide area networks. Using PCMCIA credit-card sized local net adaptors, PalmDOS 1.0 will enable users to access files and use printers on the network and integrate with network services. NetWare PalmDOS 1.0 Software Developers Kits are available now to would-be OEM customers but not word on price was given.
