WIND said that it had chose Nokia to increase its rollout potential in speed and efficacy within Italy. The initial contract was signed following a frame agreement between the two parties, announced in October 2000. The announcement provides a firm recognition of the growing co-operation between the two companies from primary alliance on technologies to this full scale network provision.
Pursuant to the agreement Nokia will supply complete UMTS solutions. Deployment of the third-generation mobile network is expected to start immediately.
