Nokia launched a cheaper smartphone in Lumia 610, which runs on Windows Phone software in a bid to arrest the slump in its market share.

Priced at €189 ($250), the new device, which is aimed at youngsters, was launched at MWC 2012 in Barcelona.

It offers 256MB RAM and 8GB internal storage and features Wi-Fi, A-GPS, a 1,300mAh battery, 5 megapixel camera and a 3.7-inch LCD screen with 800×400 pixel resolution.

It would be available from the second quarter white, cyan, magenta and black, the company said.

It would sport Internet Explorer, besides Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, Nokia Transport and Nokia Music on the Windows Phone 7.5 platform.

At the same event, Nokia also announced a global version of its high-end Lumia 900 phone and cameraphone 808, sporting a 41 megapixel camera sensor and three more basic models.

Meanwhile, the Nokia Lumia 900, the company’s first LTE-enabled smartphone, will now be available in Dual Carrier HSPA for up 42.2 Mbps, the company said
