Nintendo is hoping to build on the success of the original DS console, where in Japan sales reached 4.32 million units compared to competitor Sony’s PlayStation (PSP) 2.07 million.

The DS Lite offers a variety of redesigned features. It is less than two-thirds the size of the original Nintendo DS and more than 20% lighter. Its two bright screens can be adjusted to four levels to adapt to different lighting conditions and to extend battery power.

The start and select buttons have been positioned for easier access, and the stylus is 1 centimeter longer and 1 milometer thicker than the stylus of the original.
