GEC Plessey Telecommunications Ltd’s GPT Communications Systems has announced a new PABX, the Omni 200. With a capacity of 200 extensions, it includes an operator console, integral directory, call logging, DASS signalling, DDI Direct Dialling, DISA Direct Inward Systems Access and the ability to intermix combinations of circuits and extension types. The screen-based operator console consists of a full VDU screen, while the integral directory has space for up to 6,800 entries. A call logging feature enables managers to assess call costs and activity. There is a choice of digital signalling protocols including DASS 2 to provide access to Integrated Services Digital Network. Direct dialling is provided by a combination of special analogue exchange lines and a range of dedicated numbers to provide direct access to individual extensions. Direct Inward Systems Access enables regular callers with multi-function phones to bypass the operator. GPT says a typical Omni 200 system with suport for 128 extensions costs around UKP28,000.
