Network Connection Ltd, Woking, Surrey has announced two mail gateways, one for integrating disparate local network electronic mail systems, and a second for integrating Digital Equipment Corp office automation systems with personal computer-based electronic mail applications. The systems are also claimed to provide directory exchange services, enabling users to share an organisation-wide directory on each mail system, a process that the company says can be run automatically on a user-defined schedule. MBlink: Mail Exchange for local networks is based around a simple routing table, and incorporates a number of mail agents providing support for Microsoft Mail, cc:Mail, MHS Mail-based systems (including DaVinci, WordPerfect Office, WinMail, Beyond Mail and Higgins Mail) and Unix SMTP Mail. The other new product, MBlink: Mail Exchange for VAX, provides similar communications for VAX electronic mail users (using All-in-1, Mailworks and VMSmail) wanting to connect to the personal computer-based systems. Through integration with translators such as KEYpak from Canada’s Keyword Office Technologies Ltd, the system also enables documents from disparate word processors to be converted to different formats. Prices for the local network gateway are to begin at UKP3,500, while the VAX version costs from UKP9,500. Both the products are available immediately.
