The IdentityMinder eProvision software is designed to automate the mundane but essential process of managing user access to business applications and enterprise resources. Typically, employees and their managers have to request and approve accounts, an administrator will set the employee identity information into an application, then send a set of initial credentials to the user.
Now in version 4.0, which features a new graphical interface with drag and drop icons, the eProvision suite makes it possible to develop automated workflow processes to handle the task. Notably, in the latest release tasks can run simultaneously, instead of being serial and having to wait for one workflow to finish before another begins.
The new version of eProvision also extends the footprint of the product into provisioning of resources hosted around systems built on the Java 2 Enterprise Edition architecture, as well as controlling access to the Windows systems it has always helped manage.
The Waltham, Massachusetts-based vendor has said that eProvision 4.0 is expected to become available at the end of June. Pricing is reported to be about $30 per user.
The Business Layers product was designed from the ground up to appeal to business stakeholders, not just to the IT administration department. This latest development is seen as making the product suite more appealing to large enterprise prospects. It is also part of a long-running plan by Netegrity for full integration of the provisioning suite with its own IdentityMinder products, featuring a common workflow, approval processes, and delegation features.
