Dell Computer Corp’s new 12MHz 80286-based System 212N and 20MHz 80386SX-based System 320N notebooks, as launched in the US in February (CI No 1,607) are now out in the UK: entry price for a 1Mb RAM/20Mb hard disk 212N is UKP1,400, and for a 1Mb RAM/30Mb hard disk 320N is UKP2,000; both are available from March 25; free lifetime telephone support in the UK and one year’s on-site maintenance are accompanied by an optional European Support package covering the user on the continent; also reduced are cost of the 316LT and 320LT laptops – by UKP350 to UKP1,650 and UKP1,950 respectively for entry level systems; Dell is also introducing its first upgradable desktop systems – the 25MHz 80386-based System 325P and 33MHz 333P, which can be upgraded through the installation of a 33MHz 80486 processor card, available in April for under UKP1,000.
