IBM said that New Pig Corporation has deployed its software to transform their e-Commerce system for over 200,000 customers and distributors.

New Pig, a manufacturer of absorbents for leak and spill cleanup products, is using IBM’s e-commerce software to automate its web presence, which makes buying easier, faster and more social, resulting in enhanced customer loyalty and increased online sales revenue.

Together with IBM, New Pig is setting the trend as more manufacturers transition from the role of traditional suppliers to direct-to-consumer sellers. New Pig is using IBM Websphere Commerce, a key component of its IBM Smarter Commerce initiative, to place the customer at the centre of decisions and actions.

The offering’s WebSphere Commerce would reportedly smoothen the customer ordering process by integrating marketing and shopping across all channels, including the company’s website, catalogue and call centre.

It has also enabled New Pig to take into account how customers would want to purchase its products and create five e-site stores that personalise the shopping experience with customised catalogues that display special pricing and benefits for select buyers, new distributor sites that provide the resources New Pig partners would need to better serve their customers and community marketing capabilities to enable New Pig to reach its customers through social media tools, including Twitter, Facebook, corporate blogs and YouTube, with customised promotions and personalised offerings to aid customers in making a better purchase decision.

New Pig is using the latest version of IBM WebSphere Commerce, which enables New Pig to classify its customer base for marketing purposes and target offers that will strengthen its customer relationships.
