NDS traditionally supplies a digital pay TV system for the delivery of entertainment and information to TV set-top boxes and IP devices. However, it is also conducting a pilot program with Intel in Sweden designed to look into the feasibility of delivering TV over WiMAX and the viability of WiMAX TV as a business model.
NDS said operators choosing to deploy its WiMAX TV system will be able to deliver content over WiMAX to a range of handheld and computing devices. The system includes content security, support for multiple business models, an Electronic Program Guide, and a user interface, both part of the NDS secure client.
The demo is taking place at the NDS stand at the IBC Exhibition in Amsterdam.
