NATO is rolling out a new unified communications solution in its Brussels headquarters.
The Polycom RealPresence Platform will provide NATO employees with hybrid video collaboration, voice and data. The solution should provide scalability to increase to a more comprehensive unified communications infrastructure.
In addition, Polycom, will equip the facility with 2500 Polycom VVX business media voice end-points for use with Skype for Business.
The roll-out is part of NATO‘s Active Network Infrastructure project, which aims to allow new ways of working to modernise virtual collaboration across its different networks.
This implementation will extend NATO’s reach to employees and provide flexibility and capability to secure collaborative communications regardless of condition or location.
NATO, or the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, has had plans to build the new high-tech headquarters since 2013. It had been previously been using supposedly temporary headquarters since its formation in 1949.
The headquarters have caused controversy over escalating budgets when many of its members face domestic austerity policies.
