A group calling itself the United Loan Gunmen appeared to have cracked the Nasdaq and American Stock Exchange web site late in the evening of Tuesday, September 14. Nasdaq has, however, denied any knowledge of the incident. The crack was first reported by Attrition.org, which has published what it says is a mirror of the defaced site. Just moments earlier, the Elite Computer Hacking group ULG (United Loan Gunmen) uprooted the Nasdaq Stock Market Web Site, the cracked page reads. Their goal was to attempt to make stocks rise drastically, thus making all investors happy, hopefully ending with the investors putting bumper stickers on their Mercedes that say ‘Thanks ULG!’. Meanwhile, ULG Members go back to flipping burgers at McDonalds. Wired speculated that ULG is the same group as Hacking For Girlies, which brought down the web site of the New York Times. ULG also claims credit for successful attacks on C-SPAN, the ABC television network web site and the Drudge Report.
