Multi Soft Inc, Lawrenceville, New Jersey has announced a Computer Aided Software Engineering/Application Generation product for the development and maintenance of IBM SAA Common User Access-compatible co-operative processing applications. EasySAA enables personal computer users to develop processing applications that support Common User Access-compatible front-end interfaces for existing 3270 mainframe applications, new peer-to-peer applications, or mixed 3270 and peer-to-peer applications. It runs under MS-DOS and is upwardly compatible to OS/2. Used in conjunction with Multi Soft’s Infront Development System, EasySAA generates the Infront code needed to produce a compatible interface without changing the host code. Key elements include a single development environment that integrates the programming stages of editing, compiling, debugging and testing, claimed to simplify programming for faster applications development. Prototype Common User Access action-bar applications produced automatically include colour, menu placement, help, and keyboard handling. The system also supports multiple object types automatically which enable the developer to perform operations on objects such as procedures, Windows, dialogue boxes, list boxes, help files and libraries. Language templates to develop co-operative processing applications are available via menu selection, and are automatically inserted into procedures as required. Developers can establish a library of code elements to promote coding standards and re-usability of code. An initial set of code elements is provided and developers can customise and add to these elements as necessary. Automatic documentation provides automatic code layout and documentation skeletons for code inserted through templates and code generated automatically in application development. The unit price of EasySAA is $500, and the basic licence for Infront/DS is $1,500 and from $50 to $500 for each additional system. EasySAA is currently in beta test and will be available for general release in November 1989.
