MRV Communications has released version 1.7 of the Pro-Vision software, a service provisioning and management platform that offers service providers a range of applications and tools to manage and control Carrier Ethernet networks.

The company said that its new software enhances an operator’s ability to provision Ethernet services by improving performance monitoring and adding device auto discovery capabilities to MRV’s OptiSwitch Carrier Ethernet access product portfolio.

The GUI-based software platform allows service provisioning, monitoring and troubleshooting tasks to be performed from a central network management application.

The Pro-Vision software enhancements extend the support for Ethernet service performance monitoring allowing any-to-any service level agreement (SLA) validation and test measurements, the company said.

According to MRV Communications, its Pro-Vision software enables service creation, performance monitoring and network health checking; and includes per-service and end-to-end fault detection tools, multi-user security levels, site-wide maintenance and carrier-class scalability and high-availability.

MRV president of optical communications systems Mary Jane Gruninger said that the updated Pro-Vision software enables service providers to handle everyday network management and service provisioning routines more easily, cost-efficiently and flexibly.
