Altel, Kazakhstan’s first cellular communications operator wants to modernize its existing analog system to a Home Location Register (HLR) 41/Authentication system. This modernization lays the groundwork for future migration to a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology network.
Motorola’s HLR 41/Authentication solution will provide fraud protection for the 47,000 subscribers on Altel’s Narrowband Advanced Mobile Phone Service (NAMPS). The upgrade is scheduled for completion by July 2001.
